Counselling for AU Art courses begins

VISAKHAPATNAM: The first phase of counselling for admission into the arts courses being offered by Andhra University, at its campus college and affiliated colleges and also the new Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University at Srikakulam, commenced at the Sir C.R. Reddy Convocation Hall here on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana handed over the admission intimation memo-cum-fee receipts to the first ranker in M.Ed. D. Rajasekhar and second ranker in Sanskrit K. Prabhu Kumar. Principal of AU College of Arts and Commerce L.K. Mohana Rao handed over the admission form to second rankers in M.Ed. and MHRM K. Prasad and S. Gurunaidu respectively.

Mr. Rajasekhar, belonging to SC category, secured the first rank in the M.Ed. test for which 1,700 candidates had appeared.

Director of AU Directorate of Admissions O. Aniel Kumar said admissions into the MHRD and MA (Sanskrit) in the campus college departments were completed on Tuesday itself. Associate Directors M. Lakshmipathi Raju, M.M.M. Sarcar and I. Mrutyunjaya Rao and others were present. Admissions under the NCC, Children of Armed Personnel, sports and physically handicapped quotas were made on Sunday and Monday.

The first phase of counselling would conclude on June 29 and the second phase would be held on July 5 and 6.

Counselling for admission into MHRM, M.Ed., M.A. (psychology), M.A. (social work) M.A. (anthropology) will be taken up on Wednesday. Affiliated colleges put up banners indicating the courses they are offering. Pamphlets were also distributed to the candidates as they entered the Convocation Hall for counselling. Some students unions and organisations put up welcome banners.
