Bangalore: The Karnataka government on Wednesday claimed a major breakthrough in identifying the gang behind the bombings that have rocked churches in three places in the State, including Bangalore in the last one month.
Minister of State Mallikharjun Kharge in Bangalore disclosed that the suspect band belonged to a sect called Deendar Channabasaveshwara Siddiqui, but he refused to give details on where his powers as the organization were the subject of an investigation by the Corps of detectives and police.

“Investigations so far revealed that the explosions in Karnataka and in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh were found at the work of this band. Same explosives were used in all cases except in the church Hubli, “Kharge claimed. The gelatin explosives detonators were fitted with a timer device.

The question of whether the police could establish sect of links with Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence, Kharge replied in the negative. “Raids and all-out searches are to trace the origins of the sect and its history,” said the minister.

Meanwhile, the municipal police have formally arrested Ibrahim, the sole survivor of the van Sunday night’s explosion which took place one hour before a crude explosion shook the Saint-Pierre, the church in a city suburb. His two accomplices, Siddique and Zakir, died in the explosion.

Ibrahim, who was seriously injured in the incident is under treatment at a city hospital. The police had been informed of his arrest as a result of incriminating material found in his house, which was attacked by the CoD earlier in the day.

The raid revealed that Ibrahim is employed as an accountant with a private company. A computer, some books and pamphlets were seized. The cod can be found in the files containing anti-Christian literature on the PC.

In the same vein, state Chief Minister SM Krishna and PA Prime Minister N Chandrababu Naidu exchanged notes on the investigation underway in the series of bombings in churches, which have shaken the Christian community . As in Karnataka, there were three attacks against churches in the AP.

Krishna requested the assistance of Andhra police in the pursuit of initiatives on the history of Ibrahim, whose family hails from Vijayawada. Following a tip-off from the national police, the Andhra police raided several locations in Vijayawada.

Krishna also spoke of the Union Minister LK Advani on Wednesday morning. “He informed Advani on ongoing investigations,” said a senior official. The Chief Minister is leaving for Delhi on Thursday to assess the Centre and the Congress high command of the decision of Congress, as Party Chairman Sonia Gandhi took note of serious attacks on churches in Karnataka by the end.
